*The Smite Evil does its work for sure - even though Megaera isn't too evil personality-wise, she does have the subtype... However, Megaera toughs out the pain, and grabs her foe, testing if she had an item for negating energy drain - those were pretty expensive, after all...*

Also, she has a ton of demonic energy she's totally not using and can give up as a buffer.]
